Blog Post 1: Design Purpose
I designed my blog the
way it is for two specific reasons. The first of which is that it is a
reflection of me and my personality. I am whimsical, as designated by my color
choice, and also sophisticated or mature, shown through my font choice. The
fonts I chose work with the layout and colors to allude to the girlish
personality traits, while also giving me the opportunity to show that I am
serious in my thoughts. I chose to only keep my title an ornate font because it
is what will initially draw readers into my blog, only to be followed by a
simpler font that will not distract the reader from what I have written. “When user
are surfing the web, they spend less than 45 seconds on each page. During this
time, they decide whether to look to further into the website or move on.”
(Subburamu) This decision is largely effected by font choices, which is why I
found it crucial to use a font that would not be hard to read.
As for my color choice, I mentioned it
was to reflect my girly nature. Beyond that, however, pink has been proven to
be a ‘nurturing and physically soothing ‘(Wright). I want to give off an easy
going and calm air with my blog, so that the reader can feel invited in and
also calm while they read. There are also orange undertones in the design that ‘focuses
our minds’ (Wright), while and also is a color that is associated with
happiness and fun. The two colors work together to keep the mind stimulated and
focused, without being overpowering and distracting.
